Are We Hypocrites?

I remember the first couple years when our marriage was not good at all, we attended church twice weekly and even served as well. Our pastor was wonderful and the message was on-fire every week. We just could not get enough. Yet we also couldn’t get to the parking lot without arguing. I remember one Sunday in particular on the way to church we got into a heated argument in the car, on the highway I-95 in Florida. The church was about forty five minutes from our house and as usual we left late (we’re Jamaicans). So we started arguing about that. Then after that we transitioned to another issue (as we often did), one thing leading to another. Soon the conflict turned to the radio and the fact that one of us did not want it on that channel and the other did. Before we knew it, we were having an intense "interaction” in the car, driving at seventy miles per hour on the I-95 with the car swerving in and out of lanes, over the car radio, on the way to church. And may I say, by that time I had been a Christian for over fifteen years. It was frightening. Obviously mere church attendance and even serving had done us no good. There was a clear disconnect in our walk. The crazy part about all of this was that I would have told you at the time that I was a strong believer. Yet, my life did not match up with my “professed” beliefs. That’s why so many non-believers often look on at us and call us hypocrites, and would rather die than follow our example. We live one way inside the church and another way outsideCould this be said about you? If so, what will you do about it?
